Montt family

The Montt family of Chile became politically influential during the 19th century, and played a very significant role in Chilean politics; it is still important. Its most prominent members were the children and descendants of Catalan immigrants, notable in their time:
*José Anacleto Montt Goyenechea (1802–1867): Lawyer and Chilean politician.
*Manuel Montt (1809–1880): Politician and President of Chile.
*Rosario Montt Goyenechea (1827—1894): First Lady of Chile.
*Ambrosio Montt Luco (1830-1899): Chilean politician and lawyer.
*Julio Montt (1861–1882): Soldier and hero of the War of the Pacific.
*Pedro Montt (1846–1910): Politician and President of Chile.
*Jorge Montt (1847–1922): Admiral, politician and President of Chile.
*Leonor Frederick de Montt, First Lady of Chile.
*Luis Montt Montt (1848–1909): Lawyer, deputy, writer, historiographer, son of Manuel Montt Torres, and brother of Pedro Montt Montt.

*Andrés Wood Montt (born 1965): Is a Chilean film director.
*Rodrigo Montt Swett (born 1974): Lawyer, jurist, and politician, of National Renewal party. Candidate to deputy 2005 year, district 34 (San Fernando, Chimbarongo, Peumo, Pichidegua, Las Cabras, San Vicente de Tagua Tagua). He was President for the district 34 of the party, and Seremi of justice in O'Higgins Region of Chile, for new government, from March 2010. Since November 2010, is the Legal Director of the General Directorate of Credit Pledgee, Chilean public institution better known as ''"Aunt Rica"'', and in December also serves as its Managing director (CEO). On 28 October 2012, was elected Councillor (Concejal in Spanish) for Lo Barnechea a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region, in the Chilean municipal election, 2012. Exercising it from the 6 December 2012 to 6 December 2016.
